Agroforestry Design Intensive

1 p.m. - 4 p.m.
Wild East Farm

Wild East Farm is focused on food systems that are truly perennial, which includes agroforestry. Agroforestry systems integrate perennial woody plants like trees and shrubs into a farm landscape. These plants can offer many yields, including fruit, nuts, fiber, animal fodder, and medicine as well as increasing biodiversity and moderating against climate change.

This half day intensive will provide a deep dive into the theory and practice of agroforestry and is geared towards anyone looking to implement agroforestry on their landscape- for profit or at a home scale.

Topics covered:

  • Comprehensive tour of Wild East Farm agroforestry plantings
  • Site prep considerations
  • Keyline design, keyline plow
  • Local forest ecology and patterns
  • Planting techniques to maximize success
  • Variety selection
  • Case studies of other agroforestry projects
    and more!

This workshop is co-taught by Lyric and Noah
