Blue Ridge Travelers truly enjoy September in the mountains. Fall is just around the corner, humdity lowers, leaf colors begin to pop and attending an outdoor event is more pleasurable than ever!
Coming up this week, lots of FREE afternoon, musical performances at the Orchard at Altapass. You'll find them on the Blue Ridge Parkway at Milepost 328.3, see our attached photo. Kick up your heels on their dance floor, enjoy Miss Charlotte's apple goodies and fudge, take the storytelling hayride and soak up the clean air of the orchard trails! Hmmmm.
Saturday night is the last of the season, for Marion's Cruise-In. Stop by to talk with owners of all types of vehicles, from antique to speedsters. No admission. Find them under the Marion Tailgate Shelter at the intersection of West Henderson and Logan Streets, one block from Main Street.
Downtown Marion has two new businesses, Shucks Pearls Holiday House and Masies 105. You'll find beautiful, genuine pearls at great prices when you visit Shucks' Main Street shop. Charlene and Tony are happy to help and describe their unique, custom made pieces.
Masies 105 is also on South Main Street in Marion, featuring southern cuisine with an "upgrade." Open for dinner Tuesday through Saturday, they offer brunch service Saturday and Sunday between 10:00 am and 2:00 pm. You may "wonder" about the Mr. Bob Bread Pudding. Well, Masies owner is the son of Marion's most popular pastry maker, Mr. Bob of Mr. Bob's Donuts. You'll find Mr. Bob on S. Main, two doors down from the McDowell Arts Council Gallery and Gift Shop.
